Information for the holiday period

NZ Super/Veteran’s Pension payment dates

This year payment dates over the Christmas/New Year period will not be affected by public holidays.

  • The last pay date before Christmas is on Tuesday 17 December
  • The next pay dates are on Tuesday 31 December and Tuesday 14 January 2014.

Office hours

Our offices will be open during standard business hours on 23, 24, and 27 December and 30, 31 December and 3 January.

  • Service Centres/Super Centres/Community Link offices will be open 8.30am – 5.00pm
  • Our Call Centre freephone (0800 552 002) will be available 8.00am – 5.00pm.

Home insulation for low-income households

The Warm Up New Zealand: Healthy Homes projects provide free ceiling and underfloor insulation for low-income households occupied by people with health needs related to cold, damp housing. Availability is targeted at communities where people are most in need of assistance.

Home owners or tenants may be eligible if they have a Community Services Card and are at risk of a health issue linked to cold damp housing - such as a respiratory condition. People over 65 will be prioritised because they are most likely to benefit from insulation.


Guide for older drivers

The New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) has produced a guide for older road users. The resource is designed for friends and family of older drivers to help them stay mobile, safely.

It includes information on the driver licence renewal process and help to plan ahead in case people need to give up driving for any reason.


TVNZ services for hearing or vision impaired people

TVNZ Access Services provides captions and audio description to help those who have trouble hearing or seeing their television.


GrownUps.co.nz for the 50+community

GrownUps.co.nz is a free local, online lifestyle magazine, social club community and online store - all in one place.

Aimed at the 50+ audience it includes articles covering a range of topics across Travel, Money, Health & Wellbeing, and Family & Lifestyle.

There are also discussion groups, competitions and games for those who join the site for free.
