The SuperGold Card
Over 520,000 people were eligible for a SuperGold Card in 2007 and this number has grown by 35,000 each year.
The card will automatically be sent to all New Zealand residents who receive New Zealand Superannuation or a Veteran's Pension, or if they are aged 65 years or over and are receiving some other form of assistance from the Ministry of Social Development.
The SuperGold Card allows its holders access to a wide range of business discounts and facilitates easy access to government and local council services, entitlements and concessions. It also replaced both the Community Services Card and NZ Super Card that were issued to New Zealand Superannuation and Veteran's Pension recipients.
The SuperGold Card is the same size and shape as a typical credit card. It is gold in colour and features a prominent black "S" and the SuperGold title on the front of the card, along with the cardholder's name and an image of three kowhai flowers.
