Frequently asked questions
This page provides answers to many of the common questions about the SuperGold Card.
How much does the card cost?
The SuperGold Card is free to all New Zealand residents aged 65 years or over, and to those under 65 years receiving New Zealand Superannuation or a Veteran's Pension. What are the benefits of the card?
The SuperGold Card is a convenient, multi-purpose card:- It allows cardholders to access a wide range of business discounts and facilitates easy access to government entitlements and local authority services and concessions.
- The card replaces both the Community Services Card and the NZ Super Card issued to New Zealand Superannuation and Veteran's Pension recipients. The back of the card clearly indicates whether a cardholder has entitlement to a Community Services Card, New Zealand Superannuation or the Veteran's Pension. This means these two other cards can now be destroyed.
How do I find out where I can use my card to get discounts?
The SuperGold Card is a cardholder's key to savings, particularly with SuperGold Card Business Partners. The best way to benefit from these savings and to find out where you can use your card is to:
- refer to your SuperGold Card Discounts Directory sent out to you free each year
- search the Discounts Directory on this website
- look for the "SuperGold Cards Welcome" stickers displayed by SuperGold Card Business Partners
- look for the SuperGold Card advertising and media announcements in your local newspapers and other media throughout the year
- look for the SuperGold Card logo on advertising materials sent out from our SuperGold Card Business Partners.
How frequently will the card be renewed?
The SuperGold Card will be automatically renewed every three years. However a cardholder may receive a new card earlier, particularly if their eligibility to certain government entitlements and assistance change. What personal information do the cards contain?
The SuperGold Card does not contain any information other than your name, client and card numbers, and entitlements such as the Community Services Card, New Zealand Superannuation and the Veteran's Pension.
