The SuperGold Card is a discounts and concessions card issued free to all eligible seniors and veterans in recognition of the contribution they have made, and continue to make to New Zealand society.
It gives access to discounts from a wide range of businesses nationwide and facilitates easy access to government entitlements and local authority services and concessions.

1 October Tax Changes
From 1 October 2010, changes are being made to reduce personal income tax rates, GST increases from 12.5% to 15%, and a temporary additional payment to some groups will be made to compensate for the increase in GST. For more information about what these may mean for you, please go to the MSD website.
Expiry Dates
From mid May 2010 SuperGold-only cards (ie those without Community Services Card entitlement) issued to new cardholders will no longer have an expiry date. Read more about this on the information sheet below.
Updated SuperGold Card Directory available now!
An updated hard-copy version of the SuperGold Card Directory is now available (pdf attached below). There are now more than 5000 outlets where SuperGold Card holders can use their cards to receive discounts and concessions.
All new cardholders will receive a copy in their NZ Superannuation application packs.
Current cardholders can get a copy by:
- picking one up at your local Service Centre/ Super Centre
- downloading a copy from the link at the bottom of this page(pdf version)
- ringing the SuperGold Card Centre on 0800 25 45 65 to arrange for a copy to be sent to you.
Copies will also be available at some of the larger libraries and at Citizens Advice Bureaux.

1 October SuperGold Card enhancements.
From 1 October 2008, there will be free off-peak public transport and additional assistance for hearing aids.
Transport
Regional councils are implementing free off peak travel. SuperGold Card holders who show their cards will be able to travel for free on public transport from 9am to 3pm and from 6.30pm to the end of service on weekdays. For the Auckland Region, ARTA will be offering free off peak travel from 9am onwards.
Cardholders will be able to travel free on weekends and public holidays. During peak hours, SuperGold Card holders will have to pay for public transport. Contact your regional councils for more information on the services in your area.
